ScotlandIS Chief Executive, Polly Purvis, Announces Retirement

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates ScotlandIS chief executive, Polly Purvis, who has announced her retirement; notes that Ms Purvis has been chief executive for six years, having joined at its inception in 2000; acknowledges that, during her time at ScotlandIS, Ms Purvis’s achievements include spearheading the formation of the digital skills academy, CodeClan, which is now producing more than 400 technically skilled graduates per year in Edinburgh, Glasgow and a new campus in Inverness, championing the formation of the Digital Xtra Fund, a charity that aims to help all young people across Scotland benefit from hands-on experience of computer science, coding and digital making, regardless of geography or economic background, and working with organisations such as Equate Scotland to increase the number of women working in the technology sector; recognises that Ms Purvis was appointed an OBE in 2017 for services to the Scottish digital technologies industry and that the following year won a lifetime achievement award at the Scottish Women in Technology Awards; commends Ms Purvis on her dedication and commitment to the digital technologies industry in Scotland, and wishes her a very happy retirement.
