Y Sort It Nominated for National Youth Work Awards

That the Parliament congratulates the Clydebank-based, Y Sort It, which is an innovative youth project that provides information and support to young people, on being nominated for three National Youth Work Awards; notes that its Young Carers Service, which offers support, including one-to-one help to help improve mental and physical health, and provides a range of activities, workshops and learning opportunities, has been shortlisted for the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award; acknowledges that its Management Board, which is made up of young people who have benefited from its services, is among the finalists for the Youth Participation Award and that Lyndsey Coleman, who plays a significant part in the Young Carers Service, advocates on behalf of young carers and vulnerable young people and who has helped to create the peer mentoring project, Buddy Up, which trains young people to support others with a background in caring, has been shortlisted as Scotland’s Youth Worker of the Year; recognises that Y Sort It supports over 500 young people annually, helping them participate in projects, own and run their own youth centre, have a mobile bus service, employ staff and recently complete the building of a cabin at Carbeth to provide outdoor learning opportunities and respite; acknowledges the work of Y Sort It, and sends its wishes to all of the nominees for the award ceremony, which takes place in Glasgow on 13 March 2019.
