The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the publication of the book, The Dyes: Scotland’s dyestuff pioneers and a century of chemical manufacturing in Grangemouth, by John Blackie, which charts the Grangemouth industrial complex’s history and development from 1919 and the way that it has changed the shape of the town through100 years of continuous operation; believes that John, who spent 30 years in the chemical, dye and pharmaceutical industries, beginning his career at ICI Grangemouth, has written a book that is a celebration of a century of innovation, changing fortunes and the people who worked at the site; notes that it is compiled from original sources and former employees and that the proceeds from its sale will be given to the Grangemouth Heritage Trust, which is a charity dedicated to promoting and protecting the industrial, social and historic heritage of the town, from whom the book is also available, and congratulates and commends John on this work documenting this part of the town's industrial heritage.
