First Female Apprentice Coopers at Diageo
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Angela Cochrane and Kirsty Olychick on their recruitment as Diageo’s first female apprenticeship coopers; understands that Angela and Kirsty are part of team of 16 coopering apprentices in the Coopering School at Diageo Cambus, at which they will learn the century old skills of making oak casks for the maturation of whisky; notes that this four-year apprenticeship integrates both theory and hands-on experience; celebrates that having females recruited to traditionally male-oriented professions sees gender stereotypes continue to be challenged and greater diversity and inclusion in workplaces, and wishes Angela and Kirsty success as they continue in their apprenticeships.
