Orkney Gymnastics Club Wins 17-seater Minibus
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Orkney Gymnastics Club on winning a minibus in a competition run by The Press and Journal; understands that 124 clubs from communities across the north and north-east competed to win the 17-seater vehicle, which is worth £40,000, by cutting out nearly 140,000 tokens from the newspaper between November 2018 and February 2019; notes that Orkney Gymnastics Club came out on top after collecting an astonishing 14,000 tokens over the period thanks to the efforts of an army of mums, dads, grannies, friends and neighbours; recognises that this is just the club’s latest success, having been named Young Team of the Year at the Orkney Sports Awards in January; believes that the minibus will help the club meet the growing demand of its enthusiastic young gymnasts to compete more regularly as they prepare for the Island Games in Orkney in 2023, and wishes everyone involved with the club continued success in the future.
