Gairloch's Sitooterie Volunteers Transform Area
The motion
That the Parliament commends Gairloch's Sitooterie volunteers, who have helped to transform an overgrown roadside area near the pier in the town into a popular visitor attraction; notes that the group is part of the Keep Scotland Beautiful scheme, It’s Your Neighbourhood, which is dedicated to improving the natural environment for everyone to enjoy through community participation, environmental responsibility and gardening achievements; acknowledges that the work of the volunteers has transformed the area into the Sitooterie Community Garden, which offers accessible benches with a view of the water for visitors and residents; understands that, thanks to donations and the efforts of the volunteers, the area is largely wheelchair-accessible, and applauds the ongoing efforts of It’s Your Neighbourhood and its work to add value to beautification initiatives in villages, towns and cities all over Scotland.
