Easter Ross Firm, Pat Munro, Gives Boost to Maggie’s Highlands Cancer Centre
The motion
That the Parliament commends the workers of the Easter Ross-based multi-discipline contractor, Pat Munro, on raising £10,000 for Maggie’s Highlands Cancer Centre by taking part in a brave the shave challenge, which saw participants agree to have their hair shaved off in return for donations; acknowledges that the business, which opened in 1945 and provides aggregate supplies, chose to fundraise for Maggie’s because several of its workers have either cared for someone with cancer or have had the condition themselves; notes that the self-funded Maggie’s, which opened in 1996, provides free practical, emotional and physical support and has grown to 20 centres at major hospitals in the UK and abroad, and encourages others to follow Pat Munro's example by supporting organisations such as Maggie’s, which help people with cancer, and their friends and family.
