Building Confidence, Self-esteem and Skills Among Young People in Paisley
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates West College Scotland in Renfrewshire on receiving £9,870 from the Awards for All Scotland programme; understands that the money will be used to support residential adventure trips and snow camp fast track courses in order to improve the confidence, self-esteem and skills of young people in the Ferguslie Park area of Paisley; notes that the snow camp initiative offers young people from inner city areas the opportunity to learn how to ski and snowboard with equal time being devoted to classroom and life skills teaching, and that the participants are helped by other young people who have already completed the course in order to demonstrate what can be achieved through the programme; believes that young people in Ferguslie will benefit from the college’s support, and hopes that the success of this project sets an example for others to follow.
