Yipworld Receives Scotch Whisky Action Fund Grant
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Cumnock-based youth centre, Yipworld, on securing a grant of £10,000 from the Scotch Whisky Action Fund to run a street outreach service for vulnerable young girls under the age of 18 living in the communities of Cumnock and Auchinleck, as part of efforts to reduce anti-social behaviour, drinking and gang culture; understands that youth workers will work in partnership with Police Scotland to engage with young people and offer activities, such as sports and cooking as well as a weekly advice session to discuss issues such as alcohol awareness and peer pressure; notes the ambition that, over time, these young people will choose to engage in more opportunities at Yipworld, such as employability training and personal development classes; acknowledges Yipworld’s aim to extend the scheme to cover a wider area and give more young people the skills needed to make better life choices and build more positive relationships; commends Yipworld for its efforts, and wishes it every success with the project.
