Paradykes Primary's Nurturing School Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Paradykes Primary School in Loanhead on being awarded the National Nurturing School Award; notes that the award is given by nurtureuk to schools that demonstrate exemplary practice in supporting a range of pupil needs in school nurture groups; considers that nurture groups are an educational psychologist-designed, teacher-led intervention for disengaged and troubled children, which removes behavioural barriers to engagement and attainment in schools through recreating missing or distorted early attachments; understands that the school won on the basis of its whole-school nurturing approach to mental health and wellbeing, and that the award is given at the culmination of a two-year programme of training and support in partnership with nurtureuk; notes that the school is the first in Midlothian to receive this award, and wishes everyone involved continued success with this initiative.
