Shetland Young Musicians of the Year 2019
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the pianist, Elizabeth Halcrow from Cunningsburgh, on being named Senior Young Musician of the Year, and the coronet player, Kerem Tekcan from Scalloway, on being named Junior Young Musician of the Year at the Shetland Schools Musical Festival 2019; notes that Elizabeth has been playing piano for over a decade and won the title with a skilled performance of Debussy’s Minstrels; further notes Kerem’s dedication to playing and that he secured victory with his fantastic performance of Vois tu la Neige qui Brille by JB Arban; recognises the huge talent and dedication displayed by both Elizabeth and Kerem and all the other entrants, and wishes them well in their playing careers.
