Community-led Cycle Village Proposal for Yorkhill and Kelvingrove
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the submission of Yorkhill and Kelvingrove Community Council’s Cycle Village proposal to the Sustrans' Community Links Plus competition; understands that the proposal, which has been developed in partnership with Glasgow City Council, is Scotland's first community-led bid; notes that the project seeks to promote active travel by providing key segregated cycle routes that will provide links between popular cultural and shopping venues and also link three national cycle routes, the NCN 754 (Kelvingrove Park), the NCN 755(Clydeside) and the NCN 756 (West City Way); acknowledges that that the project team has been consulting with residents, business, and organisations since June 2018; understands that the plans enjoy a high-level of support in the community and among elected representatives; wishes the community council success in developing this plan, which it hopes will improve active travel provision in Glasgow, and hopes that this will inspire other community groups across Scotland in developing community travel.
