The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement from VisitScotland that Criffel, a 570 metre-high hill near the historical village of New Abbey in Dumfries and Galloway, is to receive £210,000 of investment from the Scottish Government to develop the hill to make it more accessible to the public and hillwalkers; notes that the investment will allow for work to be carried out to create a 1.3 kilometre path up the hill, provide better car parking facilities, as well as to improve signage both on and around Criffel; recognises that this welcome investment will help the hill to become more attractive to tourists and have a knock-on effect for the wider region as tourists will be able to make use of the world class facilities, from eateries and cafés to visitor attractions and natural beauty spots, that the region has to offer, and encourages people to visit and see for themselves all that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer.
