Weigh to Go
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates NHS Lanarkshire on its new programme, Lanarkshire Weigh to Go, which aims to encourage people to be more active, eat well and lead a healthier lifestyle; understands that Weigh to Go is a free weekly adult weight management group that runs in venues across Lanarkshire; highlights that groups are run in partnership between NHS Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire Leisure and South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture in numerous community venues; recognises that weekly workshops are run by a health and fitness instructor and cover topics such as identifying hidden fats and sugars, alcohol within people’s diet or incorporating more physical activity into a daily routine; notes that the programme incorporates both an education and physical activity element tailored to suit all fitness levels; considers that the programme has been a huge success since it began in 2012, with over 2,000 participants, 70% of whom have lost weight; welcomes the initiative, and sends its best wishes to the programme and its participants.
