Forced Live Organ Extraction in China

That the Parliament notes the growing allegations of prisoners in China being killed following forced organ removal; understands that the International Coalition to End Transplant Abuse In China has established an independent tribunal to inquire into forced live organ extraction and an interim judgement has been issued by the chair, Sir Geoffrey Nice QC, stating that the tribunal is “sure beyond reasonable doubt – that in China forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience has been practised for a substantial period of time involving a very substantial number of victims”; considers that the claims of organ harvesting in China are supported by substantial evidence, including the 2016 report, Bloody Harvest/The Slaughter: An Update, published by David Kilgour, David Matas and Ethan Gutmann; understands that the victims are members of religious and ethnic minority groups, primarily Falun Gong practitioners, a Buddhist school of meditation practice, but also Uyghurs, House Christians and Tibetans; believes that the organ recipients are generally wealthy Chinese or transplant tourists who travel to China and pay significant amounts to receive the transplant with extremely short waiting times; notes that countries such as Spain, Italy and Taiwan have introduced legislation banning citizens from participating in organ tourism, and that the Canadian Senate and Parliament have approved similar legislation; calls on the UK Government to prohibit citizens from travelling to China for the purpose of receiving organ transplants, and urges the UK Government to consider all other measures possible to hold China to account for this alleged condemnable practice.
