National Lottery Donates £64 Million to Falkirk District Over 25 Years

The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the last 25 years of National Lottery funding given to organisations and charities in Falkirk district, which totals £64 million; understands that lottery grants first started being awarded in 1994 and have provided valuable funding in the area since then; notes that the first National Lottery grant for the area was £520,000 in May 1995 to Grangemouth Stadium, which paid for upgrades, with the largest grant in the district being £25 million for The Helix project, which has transformed the landscape between Grangemouth and Falkirk into a thriving environmental community and providing a home for the world-renowned Kelpies; considers that these projects, and funding grants from the National Lottery, are vital to ensuring communities can realise their wants and needs to make their areas better, including the provision of funding for local volunteer groups, work experience initiatives and working with disadvantaged children and vulnerable people to tackle social isolation and provide opportunities where there may have been little before; thanks the National Lottery for its continued support of groups and organisations within Falkirk district, and looks forward to hearing of more funding being granted in its communities in the near future.
