That the Parliament congratulates Shannon Crosbie, of Currie, Edinburgh, on winning silver in the 100m individual medley and gold in the 4x25m freestyle at the Special Olympics World Games 2019 hosted in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; acknowledges that Shannon earned success at several regional and national competitions during her fledgling career and attended national events as far afield as Inverness and Cardiff before heading to Abu Dhabi; understands that Shannon dedicated every weekday evening to coaching young swimmers, with the intention of gaining her Level 1 coaching license before undertaking her own two-hour training and typically entering galas at weekends; considers the Special Olympics the world’s largest humanitarian sporting event and a global movement that focuses on the empowerment of disabled people through the power of sport, and wishes Shannon success with her future swimming career.
