£19,000 Funding Boost for Ocean Youth Trust Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that Ocean Youth Trust Scotland (OYTS) has been awarded £19,000 from the Scottish Children’s Lottery; notes that this grant will enable the Greenock-based youth work charity to support more than 120 young people; recognises that OYTS supports youth people from disadvantaged backgrounds by providing inspiring and challenging voyages to boost confidence, nurture life and social skills and encourage team working; understands that the charity supports more than 700 young people each year on sailings along the coastline of Scotland, lasting up to seven days, on which they learn to steer, navigate, change sails and explore their environment; appreciates the charity's and its volunteers' hard work and commitment to supporting young people, and wishes them all the best for the future.
