The Riverbank Wynd Campaign Group

That the Parliament congratulates the Riverbank Wynd Campaign Group, which is based in Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfries and Galloway, on its work since 2017 to update and transform the village’s playpark into a modern, inclusive and accessible facility for all; notes that it aims to create accessible paths and a walkway around the perimeter, install new play equipment, which can be used by disabled and non-disabled children, provide an exercise area for young people, install accessible seating for children and adults who use wheelchairs, offer learning opportunities through the creation of raised beds and planters that will provide additional seating areas as well as herbs, fruit and vegetables for families to enjoy and provide young adults and others volunteering opportunities through maintaining the park and gym equipment; understands that the group has so far raised £67,000 through organising fundraising days, holding an online fundraiser and by applying to various funding streams, including the Holywood Trust and Dumfries and Galloway Council; believes that the new-look park should be ready to open in 2019, and encourages everyone to support what it sees as this extremely worthwhile cause.
