Zahra Recognised for Charitable Work
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Zahra Ahmed, from Livingston, who succeeded in the young talent category at the Edinburgh Asian Awards 2019; notes that Zahra, who is nine years old, was recognised for her fundraising efforts for people struggling to access clean water; notes that she raised £1,600 for the Ummah Welfare Trust, which will use this to build three wells in a rural area of Pakistan to ensure that locals have access to clean drinking water; acknowledges that Zahra conducted her fundraising activity during Ramadan by pledging to fast, wear her hijab to school every day, arrange charity stalls and competitions, in addition to conducting henna designs for friends and family; commends Zahra on this extremely compassionate act, and wishes her well for all of her future endeavours.
