Stoneyburn and Bents Future Vision Group Awarded £10,000
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Stoneyburn and Bents Future Vision Group on its recent funding award of £10,000 from the Scotch Whisky Action Fund, which will help to deliver Gorilla Landscapes, a new project offering employability training to unemployed young people from in and around Stoneyburn who may have limited opportunities or personal barriers to finding work; notes that the project will run for three days per week, with two of those days involving learning practical skills in areas such as gardening, fencing, brickwork and soft landscaping, and the third day involving educational input from services such as West Lothian’s Drug and Alcohol Service, West Lothian Youth Action Team and other support services; understands that the project will help 50 young people and aims to help them increase their decision-making skills, learn to work effectively as part of a team and build self-confidence, and wishes the project and all the young people involved every success.
