New Musical Play Commissioned for the North East
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Gardige Theatre on being awarded a grant by Aberdeenshire Council towards paying for a new script celebrating the 19th century writer, Francis Lathhom, who spent a lot of time in Inverurie and is buried in Fyvie churchyard; notes that the play will be written by the professional writer Alan Bissett, with music and lyrics by Ashley Forbes, and directed by Rhona Mitchell; understands that the commission is entitled Mr Francis and the Village of Secrets and will be performed by 27 young people; notes that the piece will be a part of the Garioch Theatre Festival in Inverurie and will be touring the north east and Aberdeen later in the summer, and wishes all the performers and everyone involved good luck.
