Kirkintilloch-based Author, James Barclay, Dies at 86

The motion

That the Parliament sends its condolences to the family and friends of best-selling author, James Barclay, who died aged 86 on 24 March 2019; notes that James, who was from Kirkintilloch, was best known for his work, Paras Over The Barras, which was not only a successful novel but also became a sell-out play that is still performed around the country; believes that James had 13 books published, with seven of them being turned into popular plays; understands that his career as a novelist took off after he retired following 30 years in journalism; acknowledges that James is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters, and believes that he will be sadly missed.
