Dumfries and Galloway Youth Elections

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates those elected to represent both the Galloway and West Dumfries and Dumfriesshire constituencies in the Scottish Youth Parliament elections, as well as all of those elected to form the Dumfries and Galloway Youth Council, the results of which were announced on 1 April 2019 at The Bridge Campus in Dumfries; notes that the Dumfries and Galloway Youth Council is made up of two elected youth representatives aged 12 to 25 from each of the council wards, as well as seven people to represent minority groups across the region, including young parents, LGBT youth, young carers, care experienced young people, the Gypsy/Traveller community, ethnic minority groups and young people with additional support needs; acknowledges that 35 young people in total are elected across the region to the youth parliament and youth council; emphasises the importance of the voice of young people in helping to shape national and local policy on issues that will have a profound impact on the lives of everyone across Scotland, as well as at a local level across Dumfries and Galloway; wishes all those elected every success in representing their constituents, and encourages all MSPs, MPs and Dumfries and Galloway councillors to work closely with these young people to ensure that their voices are not only heard but listened to.
