The Welcoming Association
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Edinburgh-based Welcoming Association on its recent £118,939 award from the National Lottery Community Fund, which it will use to continue to run and develop its befriending programme for newly-arrived refugees; notes that this includes one-to-one befriending and weekly group conversation sessions at which the newcomers and volunteers meet up; understands that the grant will also allow it to run and expand its recently established café for women from socially deprived areas of the city, and wishes the group well with the programme, café and its other work.
