Abertay University
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Abertay University on securing funding to pursue a historical investigation into the origins of the university and its connection to the local area; understands that the £75,000 grant was secured through the National Lottery Heritage Fund and has been awarded in connection with the institution's 25th anniversary; notes that the two-year project, Abertay 25: Dundee’s Changemakers – Our Contribution to Technology and Industry, will cover the 25 years since Abertay gained university status, and also look into predecessor institutions, including the 1888 Dundee Technical Institute; recognises the community strength of Abertay, and applauds the initiative of the project in recruiting community volunteer researchers and 120 young ambassadors to help uncover the past.
