Gorgie, Dalry, Stenhouse Church of Scotland's New Centre for Rough Sleepers
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Gorgie, Dalry, Stenhouse Church of Scotland in Edinburgh on completing a £220,000 refurbishment of a former church, renamed Diadem, into a care shelter for up to 75 rough sleepers; understands that the pilot project is in partnership with Bethany Christian Trust and provides shower facilities, a clothing bank and volunteers from around 70 churches serving evening meals; recognises that the building is almost full to capacity every night, and wishes the congregation and Bethany Christian Trust well in their goal to ensure that the care shelter becomes a permanent fixture in September 2019.
