The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the opening of the new Street Bikes premises in Clydebank by the charity, Y sort it, which will take place on 27 April 2019; understands that Street Bikes aims to encourage young people to make cycling part of an active lifestyle, including by cycling to school, college or work; believes that the initiative also helps to save the planet from unnecessary consumption by rescuing as many bikes as it can from landfill; notes that it provides free recycled bikes to the community and has a pool of fleet bikes for it staff, volunteers and young people to hire, including for guided journeys that are led by qualified cycle ride leaders, and holds regular fix your own bike and climate change workshops; commends it on what it sees as the valuable work that it does in support of the community and the environment, and wishes it an enjoyable time when celebrating the opening of the new premises and all the best with its work.
