The Extraordinary Polly Higgins

The motion

That the Parliament notes the peaceful passing of Polly Higgins, in the company of her devoted husband, Ian, and close friends, and who it believes had a typically mischievous smile on her face till the end; notes that Polly, who was only 50, was born and raised in the Loch Lomond area and, after attending university in Aberdeen, Utrecht and Glasgow, became a lawyer, author and environmental lobbyist and was described by The Ecologist magazine as one of the world’s top 10 visionary thinkers; believes that Polly's life mission was to establish ecocide as one of the international crimes against peace that she lobbied the UN's International Law Commission with this aim, and understands that Polly said that she did not want to be mourned, but celebrated for her love of the Earth, which connects everyone.
