Infra-red Camera System Donated to Arran Mountain Rescue Team
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges the donation of a hand-held infra-red camera system to Arran Mountain Rescue Team by Thales, a company based in Glasgow, on 30 April 2019; understands that the camera system, worth approximately £30,000, will assist the volunteer members of Arran Mountain Rescue Team by providing day and night vision capabilities as they endeavour to assist people who have got into difficulty in the hills and mountains of Arran; recognises that Thales started in Glasgow as Barr & Stroud as a pioneering optical engineering firm in 1888 and has contributed significantly to Scotland’s engineering sector since then; notes that Arran Mountain Rescue Team is made up of men and women from all over the island, all volunteers, who give up their time freely when an emergency arises, and is grateful for the generosity of Thales in supporting the lifesaving work of the rescue team.
