The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the 12th annual Marie Curie Blooming Great Tea Party, which will see events taking place throughout summer 2019; understands that these will include people across the country "baking up a storm" at the official tea party weekend, which will run from 20 to 23 June; acknowledges that Marie Curie provides care and support in Scotland for over 8,600 people and their families every year in their own homes across 31 local authorities, at its hospices in Edinburgh and Glasgow and at the West Lothian Community Palliative Care Service; notes that it also provides nationwide assistance to people through its information and support service; understands however that, although it is the biggest charitable funder of palliative care research in the UK, such work cannot be carried out by Marie Curie without the funding, and awareness, that is raised through events such as this; congratulates the people from across Scotland who helped to run 140 tea parties in 2018, raising over £61,500; believes that organising one is an easy way to get together with friends, raise money for a great cause and make a difference both to people living with terminal illness and their loved ones, and encourages as many people as possible to "raise a cuppa" and support the campaign.
