Check My Council Tax Tool
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the launch of checkmycounciltax.scot, a practical online tool developed by Citizens Advice Scotland to help people claim what they are entitled to in terms of council tax reductions, discounts and exemptions; understands that Scottish Government figures show 80,000 fewer households receiving council tax reductions than received council tax benefits under the previous scheme in 2013; calls on anyone who believes they need assistance with paying their council tax to use the tool to see what help they might be able to access, and congratulates Citizens Advice Scotland on this practical solution to help people receive all the support that they are eligible for, especially in the year in which the Scottish citizens advice network celebrates its 80th anniversary.
