The motion

That the Parliament congratulates volunteers representing Digby Brown Solicitors on raising £8,000 for the Clydebank Asbestos Group (CAG); notes that the volunteers walked a 20-mile route on the Forth and Clyde Canal from Kilsyth to the International Asbestos Memorial in Clydebank; understands that the 20 miles walked symbolises the 20th anniversary since the banning of asbestos in the UK; recognises that the volunteers are passionate about raising awareness of the ongoing concern regarding asbestos-related conditions, which claim the lives of 3,000 people on average every year; appreciates that the Clydebank area has a long history with the use of asbestos in ship building, the devastating effects of which have been felt across the area; further appreciates that CAG, a volunteer organisation that was established in 1992, provides advice and support to individuals and families affected by asbestos-related diseases, and wishes the Digby Brown Solicitors volunteers well in their future fundraising efforts.
