West Dunbartonshire Council Reaches Carbon Emission Reduction Target
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that West Dunbartonshire Council has already met its carbon emission reduction target for 2020; understands that projects such as LED street lighting, improving new home insulation, introducing electric cars and vans for use by staff on council business and energy efficient measures at the new Our Lady and St Patrick's High School have all contributed to a reduction in carbon emissions from 32,938 tonnes in 2012-13 to 26,433 tonnes in 2016-17; understands that the council's investment in the innovative district heating network at Queen's Quay, which will use water from the River Clyde to provide low-carbon heat and hot water for homes and businesses, demonstrates a firm commitment to low-carbon technology, and wishes council staff and management well in their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint and ensure resilience both now and for future generations.
