The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Douglas Sewell, who grew up in Coalsnaughton, on undertaking a 536-mile trek along the Scottish National Trail after recovering from a stroke in 2010; understands that Douglas, who now lives in Inverness, has undertaken a number of fundraising campaigns and fitness challenges since then; notes that it will take about seven weeks to complete the challenge, which includes a combined ascent of 16,525m, and that Douglas plans to record his achievement via an internet blog; commends Douglas, who once attended then later taught at Alva Academy, for all his fundraising feats since his stroke; welcomes the news that he has already surpassed his target of raising £1,000, having raised over £2,000 for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland, and wishes Douglas all the very best with this latest highly magnanimous initiative.
