Dunfermline Cinema Project
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news of an ongoing project in Dunfermline with a view to establishing a not-for-profit independent community cinema; understands that the Dunfermline Cinema Project has already built a solid base of core volunteers with more coming on board every day, from organisers to graphics artists to projectionists; acknowledges that the project has also experienced contact from cinema management companies, film distributors and other successful cinemas; notes that the project aims to occupy an empty building in Dunfermline town centre, convert it and revamp it to house the cinema; believes that very similar projects have been successful in many smaller areas and areas with much higher competitive activity; notes that the project’s aim is to raise over £40,000 via a crowdfunding initiative; commends the project founders and all of the volunteers involved, and wishes everyone involved the very best of luck for the project’s success.
