Bishop Joseph Devine
The motion
That the Parliament notes with sadness the passing of Bishop Joseph Devine; notes that he was ordained in 1960 and served as a priest in a number of roles in Glasgow and Helensburgh before being ordained as a bishop in 1977; further notes that he served as Bishop of Motherwell from 1981 until his retirement in 2013; recognises that Bishop Devine was much involved in Catholic education and made outreach among young people a priority; expresses its condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time, and celebrates a life spent in the service of others.
