Dementia Awareness Training at Stromness Museum
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Stromness Museum in Orkney for ensuring that all of its staff have undertaken dementia awareness training; understands that they are going to be offering more resources, including a pre-visit pack for those living with dementia and their families; notes that Alzheimer Scotland estimates that around 90,000 people in Scotland were living with dementia in 2017; further notes that the dementia awareness training is delivered by experts from Alzheimer Scotland to improve people’s knowledge and understanding of dementia; welcomes that this training can be tailored for specific sectors, businesses or local authorities, and encourages other organisations to follow Stromness Museum’s example and look at providing dementia awareness training for their staff.
