Human Rights Violations in Sudan
The motion
That the Parliament is deeply concerned by what it sees as the ongoing conflict, humanitarian crisis and political unrest in Sudan; understands that at least 35 people were killed recently after security forces entered a protest camp that had been occupied by pro-reform campaigners in the capital, Khartoum; is alarmed by reports that Sudan has since been plunged into a communications blackout, leaving the family and friends of Sudanese citizens who live in Scotland unable to get in touch with their loved ones at a time when many citizens are feared missing or injured, and joins calls from the UN Human Rights Commissioner to condemn the use of force against protesters as the world looks for a swift end to the violence and political unrest in Sudan.
