Grandparents Parenting Again & Kinship Carers (Midlothian)
The motion
That the Parliament recognises and congratulates Grandparents Parenting Again & Kinship Carers (Midlothian), which has been awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service; notes that the group formed in 2005 and has evolved from meeting for a chat and a cuppa into to an influential Scottish registered charity within Midlothian, the wider community and nationally in kinship care, with its purpose and aim to support kinship carers and the children and young people in their care; notes that representatives will receive the award from Sir Robert Clerk, Lord Lieutenant of Midlothian in summer 2019, and congratulates all the grandparents across Midlothian and beyond who, through many different circumstances, find themselves caring for their children’s children.
