Anne Barclay MBE

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Anne Barclay, who is from Newton Stewart, on being appointed an MBE in The Queen’s Birthday Honours list; welcomes the recognition for Anne’s tireless commitment to the communities in Wigtownshire and across Dumfries and Galloway through a number of good causes; notes that these include her being the operational director of the Wigtown Book Festival, which beings a major boost every year to the area's economy, her work as chairperson of Dumfries and Galloway’s Relay for Life committee, which has helped to raise over £500,000 since 2008 for Cancer Research UK, being the leader of the 1st Wigtownshire Guides for a number of years and helping Newton Stewart Rotary Club with its charitable activities; hopes that the MBE will give Anne greater recognition for her work; praises her for going above and beyond for a number of years, and wishes Anne all the best.
