The motion

That the Parliament congratulates ENABLE Scotland on winning the Demonstrating Digital Award at the SCVO Scottish Charity Awards 2019, which celebrated the amazing work that people in charities and community groups do every day across the country to help people in need, raise awareness of important causes and very often make life-changing differences; notes that ENABLE Scotland won the Demonstrating Digital Award for ENABLEMe, which is a free assisted-travel app that aims to support people with learning disabilities in developing their life skills and becoming independent travellers; understands that it includes a host of accessibility features, including Easy Read and Text to Speech, and that it is hoped that it will enable its users to overcome barriers to training, work and other opportunities; believes that the work of ENABLE Scotland is important in breaking down barriers to participation and increasing accessibility; hopes that SCVO is able to continue with these awards, which this year brought together 44 amazing finalists across eight differing categories, including a People’s Choice Award, which saw over 34,800 votes cast, and wishes ENABLE Scotland, Scotland's other charities and SCVO the very best of success with their important work.
