The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland on the 2019 Royal Highland Show, which will take place from 20 to 23 June at Ingliston in west Edinburgh; notes that it will involve around 1,000 trade exhibitors and that more than 6,000 animals will be on display to the public; understands that the show is expected to bring around £46 million to the local area; commends the work of the Royal Highland Education Trust for its contribution to make the show and industries that underpin it accessible to children and young people; embraces the opportunity that it offers to bring government, industry bodies, food producers and business leaders together; recognises the important role that it plays in Scotland’s agricultural community, and applauds the organisers, competitors, volunteers, staff, sponsors and the community in and around Ingliston for their efforts in working together to make the event a success every year.
