Fringe Event for the OneCity Trust
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the Underbelly Circus Hub, which will be held at the Meadows on 7 August 2019 as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, to help raise awareness of, and funds for, the OneCity Trust; understands that the trust aims to fight inequality and exclusion across the capital by initiating and funding projects in areas such as education, social welfare, human rights, inequalities and poverty; recognises that Underbelly raised around £20,000 for it through the sale of Silent Light tickets during the 2018 Edinburgh’s Christmas event, which is a hugely beneficial amount for the charity; notes that ticket profits from the August event will also go towards its vital work; commends the work of the trust in tackling inequality, and hopes that it carries on enjoying continued success.
