The motion

That the Parliament commends Knowes Housing Association, which is in Faifley, Clydebank, on its solar power and energy efficiency programme; understands that, eight years ago, its director, Pierre DeFence, had the forethought to initiate the installation of solar PV panels and thermal external insulation in many of its tenanted and owner-occupied properties; notes that the phased installation has resulted in 137 properties being given external wall insulation and 320 fitted with the solar panels; believes that this has led to annual savings of £48,900; notes that, as well as providing reduced energy costs for residents, the association sells surplus energy back to the grid, using the money from this to fund community-based projects; acknowledges that the governing body of OFGEM, including its chief executive, Dermot Nolan, will visit the association's office and estate on 25 June 2019 to learn more about the work that it does in the community, particularly in relation to energy efficiency and the solar scheme initiative, and congratulates the association on what it sees as the exceptional work that it does in reducing fuel poverty and embracing renewable technology.
