70th North Isles Sports Day
The motion
That the Parliament notes that the 70th North Isles Sports Day was held in Westray, Orkney, on 15 June 2019; congratulates Westray on a successful day, which saw the team win the Millennium Cup, Challenge Cup and Schools Trophy in front of a large home crowd; further congratulates Amy Rendall, from Westray, and Mark Cursiter, from Papa Westray, on winning the best female athlete and male athlete respectively, as well as Lauren Seatter, from Sanday, and Bobby Harcus, from Westray, on winning the individual awards in the schools competition; recognises the success of the home team in both football competitions while Westray and Sanday shared the honours in the women’s and schools' netball competitions respectively; further congratulates Stronsay on retaining the much-coveted tug-of-war; acknowledges the work carried out by coaches, organisers, volunteers and athletes from Westray, Sanday, Stronsay, Papa Westray, Eday and North Ronaldsay, all of whom help make this such a special competition that strengthens the bonds between island communities; believes that the 70th North Isles Sports Day more than lived up to its billing, and looks forward to next year’s event in Sanday.
