The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Drugs, Alcohol and Psychotherapies Limited (DAPL) in Fife on its 25th anniversary; understands that the charity, originally called Drug and Alcohol Project (Levenmouth), originated from a need for community-based counselling for substance users and greater resources to educate people with regards to drugs and alcohol, and that it provided a confidential, community-based counselling, support, information and advice service to individuals, their families and friends who were affected by substance misuse in the Levenmouth area; notes the journey of the organisation as it has developed, expanded and responded to social changes over the last 25 years, and that, now, through its team of 24 staff and a number of volunteers, it provides counselling and support for adults and young people affected by substance misuse, addictive behaviours and psychological disorders across the whole of Fife; notes its many milestones and achievements throughout the years, including achieving Investor in People status in 2002, becoming the first organisation in Fife and only the fourth in the whole of Scotland to have its counselling service accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2009 and being one of the first voluntary sector organisations in Fife to become an accredited Scottish Living Wage Employer in 2017; acknowledges the devastating impact of substance misuse on families and communities across Fife and wider Scotland; commends the crucial role of DAPL in providing support and assistance to the most vulnerable and marginalised in society; praises the commitment, passion and innovation of the staff and volunteers who have continued to drive the organisation for 25 years, and wishes them all every success with the next chapter of the DAPL story.
