Clydebank High School Pupils Raise Funds for the Skylark IX
The motion
That the Parliament commends the S4 pupils from Clydebank High School who helped raise £100 for Skylark IX Recovery Trust; understands that the pupils maintained a cheerful demeanour throughout their 10-mile, rain-soaked sponsored walk from the school to Leverngrove Park, where they were joined by pupils from Christie Park Primary School, who accompanied them on the last leg of the trek; notes that the Skylark IX was built as a passenger cruiser in 1927 and saved the lives of more than 600 Allied troops who were stranded at Dunkirk; understands that the restoration work on the vessel is being carried out by a specialist boat-building team working with recovering drug addicts as part of a skills development programme organised by the West Dunbartonshire-based charity, Alternatives; thanks the pupils for their fund-raising efforts, and wishes everyone involved in the restoration of the Skylark IX success in completing the project.
