FAMS, Scotland’s Champion and Community Project of 2019
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Motherwell-based charity, Families and Friends Against Murder and Suicide (FAMS), on being named Scotland’s Champion 2019 and the Community Project of the Year at the Scotland’s Champions Awards; recognises that it was set up in 2013 by Ann Marie Cocozza, Roslyn McGilvray and Meg McCloy, who are mums from Lanarkshire with experience of losing someone either through suicide or murder; understands that it provides free, confidential, telephone and email advice, a befriending service to help cope and raises awareness of the devastating impact of murder and suicide on families, friends and communities; welcomes the news that FAMS now has a hub in Motherwell, which will allow it to support more families, and commends Ann Marie, Roslyn and Meg, and all involved with the charity, on their hard work and commitment to helping others.
