That the Parliament welcomes plans for an ornithology survey at the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) in Aberdeen Bay, which will use state-of-the-art radar cameras to monitor the flight patterns of birds such as gannet, kittiwake and gulls during the summer breeding season, including their response to the offshore wind turbines in their environment; understands that the study will be funded through Vattenfall’s €3 million Scientific Research and Monitoring Programme for the EOWDC; recognises that the chosen study was selected in collaboration with the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, Marine Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage and RSPB Scotland; acknowledges the importance of studying the impact of offshore wind turbines on marine birds, and commends Vattenfall and its partners for investing in this ground-breaking study at Aberdeen Bay.
